THE 2009 BARNES FAIR will take place on SATURDAY 11 JULY.
This year’s Barnes Fair will be filled with historical figures and traditional entertainments. Old favourites such as the Gallopers, which date from 1903, Helter Skelter, Smiley Happy Train and Punch & Judy shows will be returning, whilst the line up of historic music includes a men’s barbershop chorus, Barnes Big Band and Barnes Choir. Vintage cars and old fashioned floats will be exhibiting in the Parade whilst historic characters aged 3-12 will be welcomed at the NEW Fancy Dress competition in the Events Arena.
FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD.....
A great selection of delicious food is guaranteed this year from some
of our favourite local restaurants. Sonny’s
are returning to the Marquee by the pond and will have a selection of
homemade salads, delicious desserts and wine; while over on the steps
by the pond,
The Brown Dog will have their ever-popular
– and historical! – hog roast. The Depot are barbecuing sausages
and meat sandwiches and new for this year, The
Treehouse will also be tempting you with seasonal fare. Also
new is Monzil – visit them for a selection of Indian
treats. Teas and coffees will be widely available – and if you’re
at the Fair for breakfast, the Scouts’ bacon rolls have a big following.....
Finally, we’ll be stocking up on Pimm’s and strawberries for
the BCA Pimm’s Stand so no chance of us running
out this year! Cheers!
BCA TOMBOLA
Please start putting aside any bottles or unwanted gifts that can be used
as prizes at this year’s Tombola. All donations are really welcomed
– or if you prefer to give cash, we can buy prizes on your behalf.
The Tombola is always a firm favourite at the Fair and all proceeds go
to the BCA. Please drop your prizes into Rose House or call 020 8563 2288
to arrange collection. Thank you.
THANK YOU to everyone who has offered to help out with
the Fair. We now have a team of helpers for Friday and Saturday –
but if you’d like to volunteer to work on a BCA Stall then do call
020 8563 2288.
Your Fair Programme will be sent out with the July issue of Prospect.
BOOKING A STALL
Booking for stalls at the 2010 Barnes Fair will start in January 2010.
Further details will be posted here nearer that time.
Money raised by the Fair helps to maintain the BCA Centre in Barnes High Street, used all the year round by local groups and classes, and to make grants to local good causes.
