I am amazed that whenever I look into almost anything to do with Barnes so many people I knew seem to have vanished from the area. I lived in Barnes from 1969 - 1980 and attended St. Osmunds RC primary school. Names I remember include the O'Kelly family Grania, Lisa, Katherine, Catherine Yandall, Sandra Geoghan, Geraldine Perkins, Christine Muller, Caroline Hearne, Donald Macenerney, Jimmy Colledge, Alexander Melart, Gary & Una Byrne, Jane Clayden. What happened to all these families? Is anyone still there?

This website is fab! Was feeling nostalgic and decided to look up my childhood addresses. Was born and lived there in Barnes from '72 to '78 on Rocks Lane. My folks owned the newsagent's and another shop near the bank. There were 5 of us kids and we delivered newspapers all around the area as soon as we could walk!! I remember the blossoms on Elm Rd. and St. Osmonds school and the fire that burnt down no.14 Rocks Lane, Dad bought it and did the place up. If anyone remembers the mad Irish Quinn family of Rock's Lane, for better or for worse, I would love to hear from you!!

Pleased that I found this site and I am hoping that I can make contact with long lost friends from the time I lived in Barnes.
I was born in Barnes 1939. Lived in Charles Street until I left to go to college in 1956.
Went to East Sheen Primary and then Richmond and East Sheen Grammar (Changed its name to Shene Grammar whilst I was there).
I was a member of the 2nd Mortlake Scouts which met at the Gym in Alder Road.
My parents were very active in the Barnes Parents Association (BPA) which ran a lot of events in the Barnes, Mortlake and Sheen area.
I would happy to hear from anyone who might remember me.

As part of a round the world trip, after 30 years' absence, I made a fleeting visit to Barnes in April to meet a dear friend from the Methodist Church, June Wilson.

I took the opportunity to walk down Elm Grove Road where I had lived from 1955 to 1973 - the cherry trees were in bloom. I can remember them being planted. Was astounded at the prices being asked for houses in the street.

Barnes still has the quiet atmosphere that made it a great place to grow up in the 50's-70's

I was born in Isleworth in '43 and grew up in London. The '60s were just a knockout and I remember a large old pub on the Thames at Barnes where Live Jazz and later Rock was played. Even Cream played there one night with my mate Eric. Barnes is a gas and sounds like it still is. Must visit next later this year.

It was very nostalgic finding your web site.
I lived in Barnes from 1946 until 1967.
I was back most recently this year after about 20 years and it was interesting to see that although there had been a lot of changes, things were pretty much how i remembered them.
I will drop in regularly for updates.

Born and brought up in Barnes until I married in 1966. Went to Barnes Secondary Modern, Annexe Youth Club, and lived just behind the High Street. Spent many hours over a coffee in the Harlequin! Wish I could afford to live there now! I'd love to hear from anyone who was around when I was...
